The City of Springfield Community Development Departement is here to help you make sure your home is lead safe. Lead poisoning is a serious issue. Many homes in the area were built before 1978. Homes constructed before then are likely to contain lead paint. Deteriorated lead-based paint can be very harmful, especially to unborn babies and children under the age of six. Through our Housing Rehabilitation Lead Safe Program we offer assistance in making homes lead safe. Help is available to qualified owner/occupants and owner/landlords. Our program can address lead risks with possible treatments including windows, siding, soil and others. Would you like to know whether you qualify or how we might be able to help you?
